Flight Academy Payments

Your $800 tuition must be received by on E-services Registration and Payment Link.  If you have decided not to attend, please contact me ASAP so we can contact an alternate cadet to attend.

Scholarships

Even though PFA does not directly assign scholarships. Accepted cadets names will be forwarded to the outside organizations that have provided scholarships in the past. PFA will also be sending cadets a separate e-mail to guide them in seeking local organizations support. 

Uniform Requirements

Participant’s daily uniform will be the Academy uniform T-shirt, shorts, shoes or
sneakers with socks. Short shorts are not permitted. For the graduation banquet the preferred uniform is grays or short sleeve CAP blues, with black shoes and socks.

What to Bring

Items to Bring to Flight Academy:

  • Student Pilot Certificate
  • Third Class FAA Medical Certificate (comes with Student Pilot Certificate)
  • Photo ID issued by a state (e.g. Department of Public Safety or Federal agency or passport)
  • Passport or Birth Certificate
  • Pilot Log Book
  • Sunglasses recommended
  • Headset recommended
  • CAP ID card

For daily needs at the Campus: 

  • Shorts (short shorts are not permitted at this event)
  • Shoes or sneakers with socks
  • Academy uniform T-shirts will be issued
  • Change of clothes, underwear, socks and handkerchiefs
  • Swimsuit
  • Clothes hangers
  • Toiletries and soap
  • Sleeping bag or sheets and blankets
  • Pillow and Pillowslip
  • Plastic bags are handy for trash, wet clothes or whatever
  • Snack food for energy between meals
  • Water bottle to keep hydrated on the hot days


For the Graduation Luncheon (Saturday Noon):

  • Uniform blues
  • Bring family members or unit commander, if possible


If flying to or from the Academy in a CAP aircraft:

  • A CAP uniform
  • CAP ID card


Optional Extra Preparation (not required):

  • Read an introductory instruction manual (one is enough), such as
  • FAA-H-8083-25 Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge
  • FAA-H-8083-3 Airplane Flying Handbook
  • William Kershner Student Pilot's Flight Manual
  • Read a Cessna 172 Pilot’s Operating Handbook
  • A flying lesson or two, emphasizing safety, pre-flight inspection, use of controls.
